Great times!

Apologize for not posting more often, but as the wedding quickly approaches, I'm finding myself becoming more busy!

Wow. What a wonderful two weeks it's been for Aaron and me. We have both made trips to each other - over the last two week/ends.

These last weekends have been busy ones. Both weeks/ends combined: invitations: stuffing, labeling, stamping, engagement photo session, 3 wedding showers, coffee cupping with friends, made an appearance to a potluck, Kentucky Derby Party, impromptu photo session. Here are a few pictures:

These two weeks combined have been absolutely amazing - it's almost a glimpse of what married life will be like. I'm so looking forward to starting our journey together.

40 more days...til I become Mrs. Pursuing Pineapple!

Wedding update...

70 days to go to the big day. And just to think, this time last year, I was planning a trip to go see Aaron - which was the beginning of our 'negotiations."

I must say everything is coming together quite well.
  • The invitations were ordered and received fairly quickly. They'll be going out at the end of the month.
  • We finalized our music and scripture for the ceremony. Submitted them to the music minister and the minister officiating our ceremony. Approved! ;)
  • I purchased and received my shoes.
  • Aaron has made the layout of the programs.
  • Confirmed the bridal luncheon. Have to work on those invitations.
  • The remaining dresses and items have come in for the girls.
  • My dress came in on 3/31. Have an alteration appointment schedule for 4/14 at 2pm! So exciting.

Had my first bridal shower yesterday, hosted by some of the girls from work. Here is a picture of Anna and me. Anna is getting married May 2nd.

I know there is still so much to do, but I'm enjoying every minute of it!

She's officially retired...

She's officially retired. Yes, my first car ever. 1993 Pontiac Grand Am Coupe. 5 speed. Got her January 1997. Drove her home once my dad and I got into the country area, and I could take the side roads home. I managed, with a few stall outs. She made many a trips: to West Virginia, more so to Vanderbilt. Once I bought my Altima, I kept her around to drive to and from work to keep the mileage off my Altima.

A couple of weeks ago, I drove to work one evening - everything seem to be fine. I left work a little early - 6am. I got in the car to start it...and nothing. I called VUPD to see if they could give me a jump, thinking it could be my battery. The officer said that it didn't seem to be the problem. So, I had to make arrangements to have it towed home. It was an expensive way to get home!

Since then, my dad and brother had some people to look at it to see if it was worth fixing. The answer was no. Not really sure what's wrong with her. It was a sad moment for me. She and I had gone along way together! :)

another late night blog...

It's 2am - seems like that's when I've done most of my blogging lately.

Over the last week, I haven't been sleeping well. Most of you know, I work night shift, 7p-7a (3 12 hour shifts, which end up being usually 16 hours by the time I get up - work - home). However when I'm not working, I always flip back to a day shift schedule. It's almost been a week - and I haven't quite adjusted for some reason. I know the end of last week was due to the flu. Now, I'm feeling better, and I'm sitting here at the computer yawning, but once I lay down - I seem to be wide awake. And when I do fall asleep, I wake up every hour or so.

  • Is it because I work night shift? Maybe.
  • Is it just one of those periods where I can't sleep well? Probably.
  • Is it stress related? I don't think so - because I think everything is coming together quite well.
  • Am I ready to be at the point in my life where I can sleep throughout the night? Absolutely. That doesn't look like it's going to happen till after June 3rd(which is my tentative last day/night at Vandy before the wedding)!

I'm going back to bed...hoping to fall asleep soon.

thoughts at 3am...

  • it's 3am, and i'm awake. i only went to sleep at 12:15am. stupid night shift has my sleep schedule out of sync.
  • there's nothing on TV at 3am. not even on PPV - at least worth paying for.
  • commercials are horrible at 3am.
  • i did catch the last few minutes of bridezilla. i have to admit i laughed, but i think i have most of it planned in advance, that hopefully i won't be too crazy toward the end. :)
  • i've looked through my blog - and i stated that if i worked 4 nights in a row - someone stop me. well, i've lost count on how many 4 in a rows i've done. however, i think this last one will be my last - i'm exhausted; i can't sleep; i don't feel good. and i've been told that i can't do more than 3 in a row anymore! :)
  • i want a sense of normalcy - especially my sleep schedule, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen til at least June 3rd(tentative last day at VCH).
  • the watusi are back - meaning they're across street from my parents. i'll have to take some new pictures.
  • i'm so excited to be seeing my favorite doctor tomorrow evening.
  • 93 days til i marry the man of my dreams.

100 days

I can't believe that March is here. Three and a half more months...100 more days! I'm so excited and yet nervous at the same time. So many changes, so many transitions, but absolutely worth it!

Psalm 100
Be Thankful

1 Show triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness;

come before Him with joyful songs.

3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God.

He made us, and we are His --

His people, the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.

Give thanks to Him and praise His name.

5 For the Lord is good, and His love is eternal;

His faithfulness endures through all generations.

I'm extremely thankful for all of the blessings He has provided. Thank you all for your continuing love and support!

Counting down the days...

I'm now at that point where I'm counting down the days til June 13th. I must admit, what Aaron and I are doing helps out tremendously. Some friends of who got married last July mentioned reading the books of Psalms - starting at day 150 days from the wedding. I mentioned this to Aaron - who liked the idea. Well, I started numbering the days - 150 days back from June 13th, so that I would know when we were to start reading. Day 150 was January 14th. I noticed that day 119 was on Valentine's Day. However, what I did was counted backwards, instead of counting numerical order. So, having said this, we've been reading Psalms, starting at 150. This, too, reminds us how many days we have left til our special day. I've found that these verses have been what I've needed in my daily life - time of reflection, thanksgiving, patience.
