Memories!

Aaron and I were out doing some shopping in Little Rock, and I saw this car coming out of Old Navy.

So, when I saw this car, I immediately thought back to the one my parents had - however I was corrected by my Mom. We had a Chrysler New Yorker. I don't know what the Mercury equivalent was to the New Yorker, but they're the same, right? :)

Plans for next year!

Saw this tree at What's New - in Murfreesboro, TN. LOVE the concept. So surely with the trees that Aaron and I both have, we should be able to do this next Christmas!

Aaron and I celebrated our first Christmas together. We had a wonderful time. Here we are - on Christmas Eve.

Here we are with Travis!

Our First Christmas!

Our first Christmas together - as husband and wife! Such an exciting time! Aaron and I are so looking forward to Christmas - so much that we put up decorations two weeks before Thanksgiving. We did this so that we would
be able to fully enjoy them!

One evening, we went to Wal-Mart, and we came across a white tree. We bought all of the decorations there and put it up that weekend. Travis helping us out...

Our finished product.

We thought we needed a 2 foot white tree - with pink and green ornaments.

Here's the mantle! LOVE IT. Aaron had a deer that he had spray painted white, but due to the texture of the deer, it didn't look great. This year, we painted him red. We're really pleased with the results.

Now onto the tree! We started off with red, blue, silver, green ornaments. Once we were finished hanging them, we placed sentimental ornaments. My ornaments were still in TN, and I wouldn't get them till after Thanksgiving. We made attempts to save room for mine. After we finished placing the ornaments, we decided that this was enough - that it was our tree.

Some of your may recall Aaron's tree from last year.

Aaron and I ordered an ornament for our first Christmas together.

Ethan and Jennifer got us this one. I absolutely love it.

And we couldn't forget Travis!

While we were on our honeymoon, we went to a pottery place, All Fired Up. There we painted our own pottery. We chose to paint Christmas ornaments. I painted the stocking.

Aaron's

We also put up a tree for the "Newlywed" ornaments. It had different ornaments and their meanings.

Thought we would add a decoration to the tree.

My favorite spot in the house - this end of the couch. Love the view!

Here's wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!

Highway 67

Back in August, Aaron and I drove down to Texarkana - where he was born and raised. It was my first time to Texas.

We took the scenic route home - Highway 67. On our way home, we drove through Gurdon. Aaron and I thought the grocery sign was amusing: FOODSORE.

We drove by Gurdon schools. Their mascot is a "Go Devil.' A go devil is a rotary tool for scraping out obstructions from an oil pipeline. Here is Aaron standing on the go devil.

And to top it all off, we passed by this awesome mailbox. I saw it at a glance and told Aaron we had to turn around and get a picture! I don't think I have to say anymore!

Things I said that I'd never do...

Within the last few months - I've done several things that I said that I'd never do.

  • Marry a doctor. 6/13/09.
  • Work at a hospital, other than a teaching facility. 8/31/09. However, I only managed to work there 3.5 weeks. One of those weeks being orientation, two weeks on the unit. Discovered that I enjoyed working with kids.
  • Work in a doctor's office. For those of you who don't know yet, I'm working at Possum Holler Pediatric with the husband. I'm just filling in, helping - as the winter season picks up. It's actually been good - I get to see how the pediatric office works.
I wonder what could be next!

I was going through some pictures - pictures I've meant to post and/or blog about. Here's one I thought was funny.

Still adjusting...

Well, here goes...another blog. I realize it's been over a month since the last posting. I mean, you can't really call it a post since I just linked the wedding video, right? I honestly thought life would slow down after the wedding, but it hasn't till now - 3.5 months later. Trips to Murfreesboro, New Orleans, Natchitoches, West Virginia, Savannah - I'm not really sure when our last "nothing to do" weekend was.

Having said this, I applied and accepted a job in the ER at a hospital in Hot Springs. I spent a week in classroom orientation to find that it's nothing like Vanderbilt! :) At this point, I found myself to be homesick. I started working on the unit the following week, and I really enjoyed working with my preceptor. I tried convincing myself that (re-) learning about adults would be very beneficial. Hot Springs is a retirement community, so the patient population is consists of geriatrics. After two and a half weeks, I discovered that I don't like working with adults! Hence, I resigned from my position.

So, it's just Travis and I hanging out on the couch, which Mr. PursuingPineapple slaves away! :)

I guess you can say...I'm still adjusting!

Officially an Arkansan!

Most of you know the meaning of my Tennessee license plate. Rachel Nickens the Registered Nurse. With the new name, RWTHERN wouldn't have the same effect!

A week or so ago, after I received my social security card (because you can't change anything unless you have a new one), I went to get my new tags.

Happy birthday - to me!

Happy birthday to me! Aaron surprised me on Monday evening with a quick trip to Memphis for Wednesday night! We met in Memphis last year - right before my birthday. We, again, stayed at the Madison.

Thursday morning, Aaron and I walked up and down Beale Street. We went to one of our favorite stores: A. Schwab. We had to try on the hats!

We stopped by Peabody Place and walked around. We treated ourselves to Maggie Moo's. Had some Red Velvet ice cream! Oh my, it was so good! :)

Friday evening, Kaitlin and Matt came up early, Donnie and Lori came over - and we had hot dogs and birthday cake! We bought the "Party Animal" hat in Memphis. We're starting a tradition - those celebrating birthdays with the Wards will wear the hat during the 'birthday song.' :) So, I had the pleasure of starting off the tradition!

Yellow cake and chocolate icing! It was so good!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! Had a wonderful week/end of birthday festivities! :)

Adjusting to Arkadoo

Arkadelphia...It's a great place to call home.

Well, that's what the tower says! :) It is a place to call home, because it is home.

Everyone asks, "How's married life?" And, married life is wonderful. I'm loving it! It's simply because we're together. We're doing the little things that I looked forward to: having lunch together, hanging out with other couples, sitting on the steps outside with Travis and talking.

Having said that, I'm adjusting to Arkadoo. I've been hanging out with the girls at the gym and going to the water park. It's a nice change of pace. I'm still getting use to the 5 minutes across town versus 25 minutes in Murfreesboro. Yesterday, I was going to get my tags for the car, and the lady told me that the computers were down and they weren't able to process the information. She continued to apologize, and I told her that it wasn't a big deal. "It's only 5 minutes to get to anywhere." The ladies in the office thought it was funny. She was originally from Detroit, so she could relate.

I've applied for a job in Hot Springs - in an ER, so I'm waiting to hear back from them.

That's a quick up to date on the life of Mrs. PursuingPineapple! Exciting, huh? :)

(I promise to blog more often)!

Unemployed...

So, yeah...never thought much about it, until Aaron make a comment about me being unemployed. While it is true - it's somewhat hard to accept! I worked my last official shift at the PedsEd Wednesday. The last few shifts have been bittersweet. While, I'm maintaining a shift a month at Vandy - it'll never be the same. On my last night, Amy H. made me a veil - out of bubble wrap, cast lining/net, EKG leads.

A few shower pictures...

I sit here and realize that I haven't blogged close to 2 months. I apologize for the laziness/business.

Over the last few weeks, I've has several showers. Here are some pictures.
My first shower given by sweet friends at work.

Another one given by my 2 MATRON of honors: Kim & Ashley.

Our next shower was given to us by our Life Group.

We had shower given to by our friends at Fellowship!

Our most recent shower was given to us by the church - where we met, Third Baptist Church. Here's Joy with my Mom - she's going to fill in for me, when I move. Thanks, dear! :)

Thank you to the lovely hostesses!

Mom and me!

Great times!

Apologize for not posting more often, but as the wedding quickly approaches, I'm finding myself becoming more busy!

Wow. What a wonderful two weeks it's been for Aaron and me. We have both made trips to each other - over the last two week/ends.

These last weekends have been busy ones. Both weeks/ends combined: invitations: stuffing, labeling, stamping, engagement photo session, 3 wedding showers, coffee cupping with friends, made an appearance to a potluck, Kentucky Derby Party, impromptu photo session. Here are a few pictures:

These two weeks combined have been absolutely amazing - it's almost a glimpse of what married life will be like. I'm so looking forward to starting our journey together.

40 more days...til I become Mrs. Pursuing Pineapple!
